The Faculty of Economics has its origin in the Takamatsu Higher School of Commerce which was established in 1923.
In 2018, the Faculty was reorganized into a single Department of Economics with five areas of specialization:
Economic Theory and Policy Analysis, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration and Innovation, Tourism and Regional Development, and Global Social Economy.
Students who fulfil all the requirements for the degree are awarded a B.A. in Economics. In exceptional cases students can graduate in 3 years. Those interested in further studies are invited to apply to our Graduate School of Economics which offers a program leading to an M.A in Economics.
The Institute of Economic Research is attached to the Faculty. The Institute publishes the Kagawa University Economic Review and offers various services to faculty members and students.
The Faculty also provides a night school B.A. program for working students, with a specialization in General Economics. It should be noted here that strict standards of residency apply to non-Japanese nationals.
